We have pioneered lab-scale battery manufacturing of coin cells with the automatic battery assembly system (AUTOBASS). The initial AUTOBASS, developed at KIT, allowed us to produce 64 coin cells in a single batch. At TUM, we are expanding our efforts to develop a larger lab-scale manufacturing setup designed specifically for battery production starting from active material precursors. This setup will include robotic systems for mixing, coating, drying and assembly of single and multi layer pouch cells.
